The number one most useful tool you can when observing wildlife in it’s natural habitat is – the ability to be quiet! This applies when still and moving, most animals have far superior hearing to us and will notice and be skittish around unusual noises.
Probably the second most useful thing is a good red torch. Most animals and birds aren’t disturbed by red in the correct wavelength, so a red torch allows you to see them without disturbing them.
